Fun ride down the lovely N305, near Viana do Castelo in the North of Portugal.
So, my friend @Mig76 and I went out on a fun little ride on the N305 in the north of Portugal. I wasn't planning on filming the ride but now I'm glad I whipped out the Insta360 One R and captured this beautiful golden hour ride.

Chill ride on the N16, Portugal.

The N16 crosses the country from West to East, starting in Aveiro and stretches all the way to Vilar Formoso, on the border with Spain. This video shows a lovely section of the N16, just before arriving in Vilar Formoso, in the river Côa valley. Hope you enjoy it.
Scenic and relaxing ride in Spain.

Relaxing and scenic ride down the A67, towards Salamanca, Spain. I'm experimenting with a different format, where I show longer, relaxing rides, no talking and no raw engine sound. Just a humming in the background, combined with music. Still not 100% spot on but getting there, I hope. Let me know in the comments if this is something you enjoy watching. The BMW S1000R revisited!

Test riding the BMW S1000R, four years after I rode it for the first time. Although I didn't like the bike back then, I was left wondering why I didn't like it. Was it really such a bad bike? Was it me that wasn't able to fully appreciate it? I had to know. This is what I think of the bike now. Hope you enjoy the video :)

This was a warm up to the adventure in Shilton that you saw on my previous video. I was truly scared about the snow and the ice on the road, when I made that right turn. Little did I know!!!

Good video! Thanks for sharing your insights brother -Jonathan
This test is inspired by the story "The Princess and the Pea"😁
easy to maneuver, cornering good but top heavy? how does that work?
Great bike, and great review. Said a lot of similar things in my own review of this little gem
Folks who have never ridden an RT don’t know what they’re missing. It’s one of the best, if not THE best, bikes on the planet. Other bikes, including other BMW’s, are good, but the RT is superlative. Once you ride one you may wonder what the point is in riding anything else. Worth every penny!

Hi, I have an optimal 4 about three years old, It works perfectly. I am thinking of buying a Lithium Life po 4 Battery, So will this optimaL 4 trickle charge a Lithium battery,??. please.
I own own one and the way you talk about vibration you must be built like a twig as there is very little vibrations and try adjust the rear suspension. Man up lol
The major flaw is that there is no Apple CarPlay! Hello BMW?
agricultural my ass
enjoyable trip - can i suggest if you love your country so much that you buy petrol there . Support economy of Portugal
Love my wallet even more but will keep that in mind.
Just a guy riding the bike talking about the Optmate 4.
Interesting that the new F800GS has another 10 bhp and a bit more torque, even though it only gains 50cc. Perhaps BMW noted your comments!
I highly doubt it :) but you never know. Thanks for watching.

You da man!!! 🤜 Também queria fazer o peeling mas nem cheguei lá perto.
great bike! i have the 2015!
Swindon. Home of the Lotus Eaters and migrant hotels. Nice bike.
Cheers
What a wonderful Blue Sky !
Indeed 🙂
Also tested such format, but longer and without background noise.
Have loads of footage from previous rides. Will try that too. Cheers.
tally ho!
What Ho!
The thing is so complicated with different coloured lights flashing here and there. Do yourself a favour and steer well clear of this device.
Bike's on it 24/7 and it keeps the battery topped up. Don't really care about the colours as it does its thing automatically, checking and charging the battery when needed. Cheers.
What's complicated, you literally just plug it in that's it. Do you struggle to charge your phone too just because the screen has millions of colours? 😂
Considering one too. I have the luck of being able to have a couple bikes in my garage and a wife who accepts my BS reasons of owning a third one.. (Currently own a 2016 GSA and a 2022 X-Cape Morini). Not buying a new one though; 28k for a bike is just crazy. Will have to wait too, and snatch a used one below 20k in due time.
Lucky man :) I can't even justify replacing my F800GT, much less get another bike :) TBH, not riding much these days so, no problems. Even considered selling mine. Breaks my heart using it as the most expensive shelf in the garage :(

Me too 🙂
Your an excellent rider but, I think I would of left my bike at work, and got a ride home.
Not so sure I'm even a decent rider, much less an excellent one but thank you 😊 As for this particular ride, it was on a Sunday and I made a conscious and silly decision to go out in the snow 🤪
Beautiful Portugal and its people. I am planning to do Santander to Lisbon via Porto in the spring. Any points you recommend stopping at on the way on top of the ones you mention in this vid? Wishing you a happy and healthy new year 😊
Cheers. The Picos De Europa have some amazing roads. Head west from Santander, to Ribadesella and then south to Cangas De Onis. Pick either the 621, 623 or 625. Either one is great and will bring you south, to Portugal. Safe ride and enjoy your trip.
Happy New Year dear Foreigner ! Thank You
Thank you very much KleineLaume. Happy New Year.
I got one of these R18B and they are the best bike I had. Much better than the Harley. BTW... every bike vibrates if you are in the wrong gear. Top heavy?? Those bikes do actually have a very low gravity that's why the handling is amazing. Maybe just stick with reviewing scooters because you haven't much clue about riding and reviewing proper bikes.
Great bike..shame on BMW for discontinuing......
Surprised to hear you say it's great around town. Mine was the worst round-town bike I've had: slow steering, feels heavy, hardly ever gets out of second gear, all while blasting hot air onto your left leg. I wouldn't say I hated it, but I did sell it after two months. Great fuel economy though, I'll give you that - although it does need the premium high-octane stuff to run properly.
Great stuff. 66mpg for your 222 miles. Interesting about the neutral issue (seems a lot of viewers agree)
After 6 months of ownership, I had one issue with Quick Shifter, the seat is making my butt sore after 2 hours of riding. it's running a bit shaky between 2000-4000 rpm so not really comfy for slow city rides. very sharp TCS and ABS, the build quality is absolutely amazing. Vibration is a problem but it doesnt diminish the fun, just cancels the mirrors at certain speeds, you need to guess whats behind you :D . I'm in love with it, lightweight, agile.. Only when compared to MT10, the vibration, the low mid revs, explosive power that MT10 had... ahh i dont know man yamaha is also a very nice option... Still BMW is a great bike and I am not even slightly disappointed. I tested CB1000R, Z1000, ZH2, GSX S1000, I mean nothing beats this beast. Only maybe GSX S1000 can be a choice due to its style, choice of taste. OF course theres still Aprilia Tuono 1100 Factory and Ducati V4 Streetfighter also Triumph street triple 1200 rs are the ones I havent tasted yet and they say so nice things about especially Aprilia. Perhaps one day.
I had mine re mapped. Made a word of difference in that 2000-4000 range. Way smoother and no more hunting , surging around town when in that range. Plus the bmw torque restrictions are removed in the low gears giving the full power. Well worth it. Also find a looser grip helps with the vibration to the point where I don't notice it.
Greetings from Normandy France, but I’m currently in Los Angeles visiting family and I’ve rented an 850 GS BMW and I like my F 800 GT so much more…. Everyone was getting behind for the GS it’s a good workhorse, but I prefer my bike over this GS anytime
Já andas definitivamente por Portugal? 😊
@@TheForeigner68 oh my friend! Temos que combinar qualquer coisa. Vendi a Monster há umas 4 semanas :D
I love the bike, I commute with mine most days and tour on the weekends,It’s comfortable and a joy to ride!
How's the radio?
If you have a 200 mile solo ride in front of you in average British weather (patches of sun, patches of drizzle 15degC) do you swing a leg over your f800GT or step through the C650?
Very interesting ! Are you aware of the AK550 (I believe AK produce the C650 for BMW and it's VERY similar)@@TheForeigner68
Ooops, the company is called Kymco@@TheForeigner68
You cry like a baby!! RIDE N SHUT UP
Thanks for your thorough and honest comments on this motorcycle. I’m retiring in a few months and as I’ve gotten older I am less attracted to heavy touring bikes. I usually go on weekend trips or day rides and I’ve been looking to downsize from my Harley-Davidson Heritage. I test rode a 2023 BMW 750 GS this past weekend and found it to my liking and I am going to buy it. The engine power is enough for me and I like the fact it has all the advanced rider modes and safety features including ABS, heated grips and cruise control at a price point of $14,000 or so USD. Most of the other smaller bikes of this type from Triumph or Kawasaki do not have the cruise control feature or heated grips. It handled great and is much lighter than I’m used to which is what I wanted. Great review and ride safe.
Urban GS is NOT a cafe racer... The setup is almost identical to the scrambler, they just add a few visuals to get it even more of an offroad look.
How does it fare uphill? Does it fare well with a passenger? Thanks, lovely bike, thinking about getting one myself
You mention vibrations at low speed which contrasts lots of reviews saying the T120 seat is very comfy and the ride very smooth. Loved the commentary though and the countryside.
I really liked this review. I want to downsize from my K1100lt and the 800GT seems perfect. My K does give me tingly hands due to the vibration. How is the GT with this?
The neutral thing is hit and miss, my R yes my ST and GT no. The R had to be put into N while rolling. Enough about the panniers the bike is the most underrated of any one I've ever owned. You have a rack on the back, use it.
If one of your main requirements is to be able to do a lot of 2 up touring with luggage then you really need a GS (I've had them for 8 years now and originally chosevthe GS over the RS for this reason as SWMBO hated the pillion position on the RS, but had no problems doing miles on the GS, apart from getting bored). It offers better comfort and weather protection than the RS too, but the RS is more compact and easier to ride at low speeds and move around. With traditional forks it's more engaging to ride than the GS too if that's important, the GS just wafts along in all day comfort.
No. If u do a lot of 2 up touring what you need is an RT, not a GS.
@@joaoroman9583I would agree that if you only did 2 up touring then the RT would be then one to go for, but if you could only have one bike and you wanted to do everything from commuting to scratching then the GS would be a better all rounder IF you needed to take a pillion. At the end of the day it's just what suits each individual best isn't it?
Top speed?
Our eyes see everything smoothly, imo. we just don't have good stabilizatin
After 15 years of riding a Triumph Tiger 1050 with 125.000 km on, I‘m thinking about a smaller bike. Thanks for the review, it makes my decision much easier. By the way, I‘m living in Bavaria, riding an English motorbike and nearly all of the English bikers I met during that time didn‘t drove English ones. Funny thing , isn‘t it? ;-)
Hi...do you find any issues with heat toasting your legs from the engine?
No
Hi ! I have the same microphone, where exactly do you place it in your helmet to get that clear sound ? Many thanks
Cool and truthfull statements. Thank you !
Hello, I went from a BMW F800GT to the RT. The GT, nice bike but just didn't have the power for a two up weekend with full luggage. The GT full faring removal was a huge pain in the arse during maintenance. The RT is a dream machine.
